Carl Newell began making his amazing fishing reels decades ago and they are still made with the same integrity and quality today. They are constructed from strong stainless steel and graphite, which makes them very light and easy to handle. They are still hand made and you can tell when you catch your first fish with one, that they are built very well.

My favorite thing about them is they cast very far. I remember when I was young watching my dad cast what seemed like a mile with these reels. They are a great live bait reel because of this incredible casting ability. You can throw a tiny anchovy right where you need it, even if its far from the boat.

They have strong drags that are capable of stopping your catch in its tracks. The drags on these reels are smooth and powerful. Drags will not be jerky unless they have worn out, in that case they need to be replaced. With years of feedback, the Newell crew has fine tuned their fishing reels, and it will be evident upon catching your first fish with them.

As with any reels, some maintenance is required. After your fishing trip just rinse your reels off with fresh water like you do with your other tackle after you are done fishing. Have your reels serviced once a year and change your drags when needed.

Newell reels come in many different sizes to handle all line sizes and species of fish. From twelve pound test to one hundred pound test, you can find the correct model for your fishing application.
