It has increased size in the gears for increased power and it also has an ergonomic handle along with a rubber power grip for more torque. In addition, the Shimano Tyrnos has a ratcheting lever that helps eliminate the movement of the lever when on the boat due to the engine's vibrations. It also contains four anti-rust ball bearings, a titanium drag, stainless steel reel foot, and a loud click strike alarm that has enough tension to hold large baits.

The Tyrnos has either a topless or reduced profile top crossbar offering you ample control when you are either casting, dropping back the baits, or when letting go of lures. It has a simple pre-programmable lever drag than has practically no limit in range. You can change the drag settings by moving the lever forward to place it in Strike mode. If you are looking to gradually add to the drag force to full, you can press the Strike Stop button and then shift the lever into Full position. The Shimano Tyrnos makes it as simple as pushing buttons.

Available Models

The Tyrnos is available in different models. There are currently six models that you can choose from. You have the TYR 8, TYR 10, TYR 12, TYR 16, TYR 20, and TYR 30. Each model is equipped with different special feature that makes it unique from the others. The line inch and the maximum drag progressively increases according to the increase in the model number. Shimano Tyrnos 8, 10, 12, and 16 have the topless design whereas Tyrnos 20 and 30 sport the reduced profile top crossbar element.
